The court found there was a lack of evidence to implicate the teachers from Umkhumbane Secondary School in the harassment of learners. Yesterday, the KZN Education Department told Newswatch parents at the school have allegedly been preventing the department from placing teachers at the school. The parents have apparently stopped the three teachers from returning to the school and have blocked efforts by the department to appoint other educators to fill their positions. Teacher union SADTU’s Sibongiseni Xulu has called on parents to abide by the court’s decision."Our argument was that we cannot just chase teachers out of the school without following correct procedures and those teachers must be subjected to a hearing and those allegations will remain allegations until they have been tested," he said.
